Sanada Yukimura Suji-Bachi Taisho Kabuto

Original price was: $1,099.99.Current price is: $989.95. $989.95

Sanada Yukimura Suji-Bachi is crafted by our best Taisho Katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith).  The Sanada Clan’s famous maedate(crest)is called “Rokumonsen” which means and represents six coins.  These coins are believed to be needed to cross the river of the underworld. By using this maedate, Yukimura Sanada wanted to show he was never afraid of death during battle.

This beautiful, traditional Sanada Yukimura Suji-Bachi Kabuto is crafted by hand by cutting and riveting 8 or more (optional) plates to form the hachi (bowl) section. Then each plate of the shikoro are then hand cut and shaped.  The shikoro is then hand laced in kebiki-odoshi (also referred to as “full lacing”) with the great care and attention to detail.  Synthetic dear antlers are then attached to the hachi.  Finally the ukebari (helmet lining) is then carefully fitted to the inside of the hachi (bowl of helmet) to finish the kabuto.  The menpo (men-pô = facial armor) is then completed using the same kebiki-odoshi on the tare (throat guard).  The menpo is a traditional “ressei-men” style; which features a kuchi hige (mustache), shiva (facial wrinkles), odayori ore kugi (posts), detachable hana (nose guard) and mimi (ear covers).
