Okitenugui Nari Saiga Kabuto is a hachi (bowl) style helmet that features one top plate. The Oki Tenugui Kabuto is crafted in the form of a folded hand towel with Kirigane butterfly applications. It was reproduced by our senior armor smiths after an original Edo Era kabuto was found in the Robert Winter Collection in New York, as a smaller part of the Osian’s Collection.
The Okitenugui Nari Saiga kabuto (also spelled Saika by some sources), is a unique design and one of the more prestigious kabuto worn by Daimyo, taisho and their high ranking samurai warriors. Often it is finished in natural iron (or russet), to show the high quality of the metal used. Helmets of the Saiga school tend to be rare and highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
