Original price was: $18.99.Current price is: $12.95. $12.95

Agemaki no kan is a swivel ring fitted to various parts of the Samurai’s armor, from which a agemaki (decorative bow) is hung. Agemaki no kan are often found on the back side of the Kabuto (samurai helmet), Do (Samurai cuirass) and Sode (shoulder shields).  They are very much the same as the no Kan (rings) on the front of the Do. These rings are called “Saihai no kan” and “Tenugui no kan”. The saihai no kan is on the right breast plate of a tosei do, typically used to hold the saihai. Tenugui no kan on the left breast of a tosei do. On the back of the kabuto, it is called Kasa jirushi no kan. On the sode they are called “Mizunomi no kan”.

The Gashira class Agemaki no kan crafted by Iron Mountain Armory from fine brass alloy. They are sold in sets of 2 and each set consists of 2 parts. The ring with disc mounting plate and byo (rivet). The byo has 2 legs which slide through the disc, then through existing hole (8 ~ 10mm around) in the armor.  The legs are then pressed open and flatted behind the armor plate to create a secure fit. The supports may then be secured further with a leather patch. This method is used to secure the ring so if pulled during combat it will brake free, keeping the samurai from being pulled.

Please Note: You will receive 2 rings and 2 rivets.
