Shinobi No O or “Kabuto No O” is the cord which is used to tie the kabuto around the menpo (face armor) / chin of the warrior.  It easily slides through the loops within the kabuto or jingasa and can be tied in different configurations, securing the helmet to the warrior’s head. The menpo or hanbo (half face armor) was used for both protection in combat and from the cord.  The shinobino-o would typically tie around the ore kugi (L shaped post), located on the menpo cheeks and then down under the chin.  The menpo would often be held in place by the shinobi-no-o, to be secured to the samurai warrior’s face.

Traditionally the shinobi no o kabuto cord would be a simple hemp rope but most often it would be wrapped with hemp or silk. This would keep keep the kabuto cord from damaging and chafing the wearer. It would also add a small embellishment to the samurai’s armor. You have the option of ordering your Shinobi No O kabuto cord with the hemp or art. silk sleeve covering, a rope or filled with padding for a more soft feel.  Upgrade your exciting kabuto or add an extra kabuto cord to your order to have an extra to swap out when needed.  Traditional design to be used with all types of samurai kabuto and jingasa, reproduction and antique.
