Introducing the majestic Shogun Armor set, the first masterpiece from our exclusive Shogun series armor line. Crafted to give homage to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the influential Shogun who brought an end to the warring Sengoku era and ushered in the Edo period’s era of peace. It captures the spirit of absolute power and resilience, combining design features from both the mid to late Sengoku era with the aesthetics of the Edo period.
Every element of this armor set reflects dedication to traditional samurai artistry, meticulously handcrafted by our skilled artisans. The centerpiece is a stunning 24 ken so-fukurin hoshi-bachi kabuto, featuring ko-boshi, meticulously assembled to reflect the formidable essence of a Shogun’s helmet. The fukigaeshi, expertly crafted by joining the hachi tsuke-no-ita and ni-no-ita with split-shanked rivets, adds a distinctive historical authenticity. All while featuring a hand forged menpo (face armor) with ago hige (simulated, imperial style goatee).
Enhancing the helmet’s grandeur is tehen-no-kanamono, adorned with a ese ura giku za, hohei ura, and daki bana. The 4 shino-dari, inverted spear-like decorations, boldly juts from beneath the tehen-no-kanamono, illustrating the dynamic aesthetics of Shogun warfare attire. The so-fukurin (brass trimming) highlights the edges of the 24 suji (ribs) which make up the hachi (bowl) of the kabuto.
The do (cuirass) plate follows the kiritsuke-kozane (wide scale) style, known for its robust tosei (modern) design introduced in the mid 1500’s while romancing the elegance and historical significance in samurai armor construction of the Muromachi era. The kote (armored sleeves) mirrors late Kamakura-period designs with tsumami-tekō (armored hand plate with thumbs), and resurging in early Edo era craftsmanship. Completing this Shogun series armor are the Etchû-suneate, which maintain traditional functionality and provide modern adaptability for the wearer.
