Description
Fukurin is a decorative trim which is used to embellish and/or re-enforce edges of armor and clothing. Fukurin can be made from asa (hemp linen), kawa (leather), cooper, sentoku (brass), kin (gold) or a mixture of metals. In reference to samurai armor the term fukurin generally references to a decorative metal edging. Leather fukurin is referred to as “kawa fukurin” (leather trim). Cloth fukurin is often referred to as “asa fukurin” or a more modern term is “sasaheri” (cloth trim). Regardless of the material the function of fukurin is the same, and almost always featuring a pattern or design painted or engraved into it.
Iron Mountain Armory is happy to support the samurai armor restoration and DIY communities by offering hard to find, traditional materials for yoroi. Our fukurin is offered in several traditional materials and color options with traditional printing. Keeping with tradition we stencil the designs onto the material which may leave a vintage look. The standard length for each quantity is 5 meters, which is enough for a section of armor, such as the suji-bachi kabuto or the do (cuirass). For a complete armor set we recommend ordering 15 meters, which should leave you with some extra left over, in case of mistakes or side projects. To order 15 meters, select quantity of 3 when ordering. Please note that jabara-fuse is always used to outline the trim of fukurin on armor. This is also available in our online store in our DIY section.
Please note: The finished product of traditional printing can sometimes have a vintage / faded finish causing it to be thin or blurred in some areas.
Features:
- Traditional materials.
- Traditional patterns.
- Available in several colors.
The fukurin is hand stenciled by Iron Mountain Armory for each order, so please allow at least 1 week for our armorer to finish your order.

A very useful product that will add that final finishing touch to a homemade suit of Samurai armor I am putting together. I would have given it five stars, but this soft copper trim was rather tightly wound up when packed, so it’s a little difficult to straighten up without damaging it.
Good overall. I was able to complete my project. However, the printed ink seemed a bit thin is some areas and I could not use it.
Thank you for your honest and clear review. Although this issue it is noted that the product description when saying “Keeping with tradition we stencil the designs onto the material which may leave a vintage look” we will work to make this statement more clear. This is the issue we face when making traditionally handmade items, they do not always have the same consistent quality as modern factory made items. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we consistently work to improve our craft from the suggestions of our valued clients.
