Arima Clan, was descended from Fujiwara Sumitomo and was established in the 12th century by Arima Tsunezumi. The Arima, whose name means “has horse,” were first known for their cavalry and grew even stronger with the arrival of the Portuguese around 1543 AD. They were heavily influenced by Christian missionaries. As a result of this “Christianization,” the Arima Clan received supplies and weapons from the Portuguese. This strengthened the clan even further. They would play a small but interracial part in the final unification of Japan by siding with Toyotomi Hideyoshi. According to tradition, the Gashira (Officer) Samurai would typically take their commands directly from the Arima Taisho, and lead their subordinate Arima Kachi Samurai into combat.
It comes crafted with a traditional “Tosei Byo-toji Yokohagi Okegawa Do” (Two Section Cuirass with Riveted Horizontal Plating joined by a Pin Hinge). This samurai suit features Kiritsuke Iyozane (simulated scale), sode (shoulder defense scale) and kusazar (skirt-like defensive plates). This design style was common towards the end of the Sengoku Era. The helmet, mask and shin armor style, can be changed out for other traditional designs via the Extra Options drop-down menu on our product page. It would be our honor to customize the color, sizing and accessories as well, to give you the full warrior image you desire.
The Arima Clan typically elected to have their armor finished with a suna (sand) texture and black odoshi (lace). Our katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) is happy to paint your yoroi in any color or texture offered. We are also happy to customize the style of kabuto (helmet), menpo (mask) (menpo) and suneate (shin guards) Custom options include laces, material and leather in multiple colors and styles.
