Description

Ita-Mono Hachi-gané is a traditional armored headband, featuring a ita-mono (single armor plate), which are worn by samurai warriors and shinobi (ninja) throughout the Sengoku and Edo Era in Japan.  This style of hachigane (armored headband) with a single armor plate, is curved to match the forehead, which provides the maximum comfort and protection from blade strikes to the forehead. Strikes to the forehead where especially common in duels between samurai or to unsuspecting samurai traveling the road.  The strike will leave the warrior dazed for several seconds and likely blinded by the blood falling from the forehead, leaving the warrior momentarily incapacitated and vulnerable to follow up attacks. The hachigane protects the samurai warrior or shinobi from such attacks.

Iron Mountain Armory is happy to custom craft your traditional ita-mono hachi-gane for you.  We offer different armor color / finishes and materials, as well as adding a traditional samurai clan or custom mon to your hachi-gane. If you select to add a mon, it will be engraved into a brass disc and fixed to the center of your armored headband.  If you have any questions, please review our FAQ page or Contact Us directly.
