Iki Ningyo (生人形 iki-ningyō) are traditional Japanese life sized and life like mannequin. These life like mannequins date back to the Edo era and were made popular during the Meiji era of Japan. During the Meiji era samurai armor was retired from battle, then put on display in shops, museums and homes around the world. The Iki Ningyo could consist of the head only or full body and were used to portray what Japanese samurai looked like while wearing their armor or traditional clothing, while holding a single pose. Some of the faces looked like the samurai who may have worn the armor or had a more “cartoon-like” face with embellished almond shaped eyes. Examples of iki ningyo appear in many collections throughout the world, from the Stibbert Museum in Italy to the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and the Royal Armories in England.

Iron Mountain Armory’s custom Iki Ningyo adjustable mannequin displays are made from a steel frame with hinged joints, then covered with medical grade silicone.  This makes these unique Asian mannequin not only fully adjustable (standing or sitting), but the look and feel of a real human. Our iki ningyo Asian mannequins are fully articulated, meaning they can be adjusted to hold any pose a life human can.  Iron Mountain Armory is able to boast their iki ningyo body display stand are more realistic than a wax figure, while being fully adjustable, seated or standing, with interchangeable head and averaging half the price of a wax figure and twice the price of a quality store mannequin. Samurai armor, clothing, costume or other, there is no better substitute to bring your display to life!

You can add makeup to change its look and coloring. The included eyes and hair are realistic and can be changed with ease.  Optional heavy support stand can be purchased to securely stand your mannequin in place. Asian mannequin size is best suited for antique size armor with 80 to 104 cm chest size. My require extra support depending on weights / angle of display.

Please Read and Note Before Ordering:  This life like and fully adjustable mannequin will need support to stand on its own. Ordering it with the optional stand will also add 3 bolts to the bottom of each foot which then connect to the weighted stand. The feet will lock into place on the stand. As with all mannequin, some positions may compromise the balance of the mannequin so care or extra support should be considered especially if dressing it with weighted items, such as armor.  The fingers are steel cables and may not hold an item, such as a sword, very well, so extra support may need to be added.
