Nanban Dogusoku Gashira Samurai Armor

Nanban Dogusoku Samurai Armor was influenced by European style armor, brought to Japan during the late 16th century through trade with Spain and Portugal.  This trade brought materials, armor and teppo (matchlock rifles) to Japan, effectively changing warfare and the future of Japan.  The Nanban Do (Southern barbarian cuirass) features 2 steel plates formed into a shinogi (ridge peak) along the center of the chest and closed with a hinge, making it efficient at deflecting teppo bullets for the samurai during battle.   The momonari kabuto (peach shaped helmet) was also effective at deflecting teppo bullets.  Although this style of yoroi (armor) became common during the last years of the Sengoku era, Oda Nobunage was credited with making it fashionable. Keeping with tradition, our skilled katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) at Iron Mountain Armory provide you with all the customizations given to a Samurai when ordering their Nanban Dogusoku Samurai Armor.  You can select from other styles of kabuto and chose to remove some pre-selected options, like the maedate (crest), odoshi (lace) colors and more.  Our custom crafted traditional samurai armor is for sale, full size, fully functional making them perfect for display, martial arts budo training, reenactment, LARP & Cosplay use.
