Embrace the Strength of the Modern Samurai
The Yokohagi Okegawa Samurai Armor is a faithful & economical reproduction of the tōsei gusoku (modern armor) developed in the mid-16th century. Designed with yokohagi (horizontal plate) construction & the okegawa (barrel-side) fashion, this style emerged during Japan’s Sengoku Jidai as firearms & European influence began reshaping samurai warfare. It quickly became a battlefield staple, thanks to its durable yet flexible design.
Crafted by the apprentice Katchû-shi at Iron Mountain Armory, this full-sized suit honors the evolution of samurai armor. It includes a robust Byō-tōji Yokohagi Okegawa Dō (rivet-reinforced horizontal plate cuirass), sode (shoulder guards), & gessan (skirt plating), all laced in kebiki-odoshi (full lacing). The pictured set features the hachi goshozan kabuto (victory mountain bowl helmet) with optional byō-tōji (decorative rivets), reinforcing its bold battlefield presence.
This armor set is fully customizable with your choice of paint, nylon odoshi (lace), helmet style, mask style, materials, finishes & more. Affordable yet authentic, it’s ideal for budo martial arts training, LARP, cosplay, home or dojo display.
