Kazaori Eboshi Kabuto (helmet in the form of a wind-swept court cap).  The eboshi was traditionally a court cap in the Heian era which became more casual and for ceremonial purposes, into the late Muromachi period.  The eboshi was given during “gempuku” (the ceremony of passage to adulthood – typically the age of 12).  Samurai eboshi kabuto style are recorded to have been worn by noted military commanders between 1540 and 1620, including Maeda Toshiie (ca. 1538-1599) and Kato Kiyomasa (1562-1611). The wind-folded eboshi was so called because they were susceptible of being folded over by the wind, and in this case it is deliberately folded over with this intention.
